Beyond the Classroom

One of the reasons that Shrewsbury is known to be one of the leading independent schools in the country is down to the extraordinarily diverse range of activites that our pupils enjoy. The arrival of the first cohort of girls to join our coeducational Sixth Form in 2008 extended this range still further.

In addition to sport, which is covered elsewhere on this site, music and drama flourish, and all students are able to get involved in any number of extra curricular activities.  We have an extraordinary array of clubs and societies, a varied programme of weekend activities, and a 'field day' once a term to allow pupils to develop their interests further. Shrewsbury's location also offers us excellent opportunties to explore the Welsh hills, and the school's cottage in Snowdonia, Talargerwyn, is always fully booked at weekends.

Nor are Shrewsbury's activities confined to term-time; indeed, the holidays can often seem just as busy, with Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions, CCF camps, sports tours, foreign trips for language students, classics students, biology students etc.
