Shrewsbury is one of the country's strongest schools in Eton Fives, which is a major sport in the Lent term. The school has 14 Fives courts (refurbished in 2009) and hosts the Northern Men's Championships annually, and the National Schools Championships on a triennial basis. 

School matches are arranged during the Lent term for boys of all ages against all the major Fives playing schools, including weekend trips to play Eton and Harrow.

In 2010, Shrewsbury were runners up in the first-ever National School Mixed Pairs Event at Eton, after an all-Shrewsbury semi-final, and the girls also competed for the first time in the National Schools Championships at Highgate.

One of the first cohort of girls to join our newly co-educational Sixth Form in 2008, went on to become one of the first girls to be awarded a Half Blue in Fives from Oxford in 2011, and in 2012 two Salopians were the first schoolboys ever to win the EFA National Under 21s Tournament..
