Squash

Shrewsbury has four squash courts on site.  Competitive squash is confined to the Lent term when matches are arranged with schools such as Malvern and Repton, as well as adult teams such as the Jesters and a staff team.  Most years the squad contains a dozen or so players and we aim to put out two fives for most matches.  During this term a coach is available most Saturdays.

There are no junior squash matches, though talented younger players often represent the school in the main squad.  Students in the 3rd and 4th Forms have the chance to play as part of their curriculum games programme, and there is a junior coaching session one afternoon a week.  Casual squash can be played on afternoons throughout the year.

During the Lent term there is also an inter-house Squash League, which often gives a chance for non-School team players to experience competitive squash.  Boys' teams are made up of four players, one from the Third Form, one from the Fourth Form, and two boys from any year.  The two Sixth Form girls' houses select any four girls for their teams, and compete against each other in the preliminary round.
